Bobbie D. Morehead

1932 - 2012

Bobbie D. Morehead, age 80, a fifty year resident of Shady Side, MD, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012, after a lengthy illness.

A funeral service for Mr. Morehead will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Stover Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Reliance Cemetery, Middletown, VA.

He was born in Virginia on June 15, 1932, a son of the late Daniel Clayton and Mary St. Clair Morehead.

He worked as a lineman for Rockingham Construction in Prince George's County form 1958 to 1972, and then worked for the U.S. Navy Department of Defense as a high voltage electrician at the Dahlgren Navel Facility in Dahlgren, VA from 1972 until his retirement in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served from May of 1951 until his discharge in 1955. He was a fireman serving aboard the USS Salem from 1951-53, then was stationed in Washington DC at the U.S. Navel Receiving Station.

In 1958, he married Mary Delores Hanson Morehead who preceded him in death in 2002.

Mr. Morehead loved the Orioles, Redskins and NASCAR. He enjoyed watching western movies, gardening and had his own woodworking shop.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Leonard Morehead; and a sister, Thelma Cook.

Survivors include his sons, Alan G. Morehead of Shady Side, MD and Brian K. Morehead of West River, MD; his grandchildren, Dawn Peaper of Edgewater, MD and Alison Morehead of West River, MD; his sisters, Genevieve Morehead, Alleen Peffer, both of Reliance, VA and Sandra Walker of Winchester, VA; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Stover Funeral Home.
