Bonnie Crank Obituary


Bonnie Crank answered the Lord's call home on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

A graveside service will be held on August 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in Panorama Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Lary Andes and the Rev. Alfred Woods officiating.

She was born May 15, 1936, the eldest daughter of George Frank Junbert, Jr. and Laura Virginia Sengelaub Jungbert in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband and friend, Dr. Carlysle C. Crank; sisters, Diane Joy Witlow and Linda Sue McIntosh; brother-in-law Howard McIntosh; and a nephew.

Surviving are two children, Hope Lee Bett and husband Jack of Glen Allen, Virginia and Carlton C. Crank and wife Jeannie of Penn Laird, Virginia; two granddaughters, Melody Lee Bett and Danielle Jeanette Crank; two great-grandchildren, Liam and Korianne; and two nieces.

Mrs. Crank was born and spent early years in Louisville, Kentucky and was a graduate of DuPont Manual High School. Following high school, she worked at Alexander Blaine Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and later attended Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, where she met her future husband at a gathering for student nurses and students from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. They were married on June 1, 1957.

In 1972 Mrs. Crank graduated from Greensville Memorial Hospital of Practical Nursing where she worked for two years. For five years she taught a Health Clusters class for seniors at Greensville County School in Emporia, Virginia on a Trade and Industrial Certificate. During that time, she took several extension courses from Virginia Tech. After moving to Front Royal with her husband Carlysle, she worked for Miller Chiropractic Clinic.

During her husband's pastorates, Mrs. Crank served on many committees, taught classes and sang in choirs. She was a member of the Front Royal Oratorio Society for five years. Following her retirement in nursing, she began a career in writing. In addition to her magazine, poetry and newspaper articles, she had three books published, Another Time, Another Place, From Ashes to Glory, Heartsong Publishing and From Where the Parson's Partner Sits…or Hanging on by My Fingernails, Xlibris.

Mrs. Crank was a member of First Baptist Church, Front Royal, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 14 West 1st Street, Front Royal, Virginia 22630, the Warren County Humane Society, 1245 Progress Drive, Front Royal, Virginia 22630 or to a charity of your choice.
