Gary Rhinehart Obituary


Gary Alan "PeeWee" Rhinehart Sr., 84, of New Market passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in Harrisonburg. Services will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Manor Memorial United Methodist Church, New Market. Great-grandson, Dakota Baker, will officiate. The burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery, New Market. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6-8 P.M. at Dellinger Funeral Homes, Mount Jackson.

PeeWee was born on July 4, 1940, in New Market, and was the son of the late Paul Timothy and Helen Virginia Fox Rhinehart. He was a Vietnam War Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army as an SP5 from 1966 until 1968, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was a lifetime member of the Mount Jackson Moose, charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles New Market, a member of the VFW in Edinburg, and a member of the American Legion Post 166 in New Market, where for a period of time, he was elected as Commander. He remained a loyal patriot till the end. Until retirement, he led a trucker's way of life operating a tractor & trailer before owning and operating his own dump truck. He was preceded in death by siblings, Donnie Rhinehart, Janice Ballard, Kenny Ray Rhinehart, Jim Rhinehart, Jerry Rhinehart, and Carolyn Umbarger; grandson, Jesse Rhinehart.

PeeWee is survived by companion, Frances Walton; three children, Debra (Chuck) Houser, Gary (Sharon) Rhinehart Jr., Chad (Sarah) Rhinehart; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and best friends.

Arrangements are in the care of Dellinger Funeral Homes, Mount Jackson.
