Glenn Proper Obituary
Glenn Earl Proper, 61, of Bedford, VA, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Carriage Hill Retirement. His family suspects his last statement would be, "It pains me to admit it, but apparently, I have passed away. Everyone told me it would happen one day but that's simply not something I wanted to hear, much less experience. Once again I didn't get things my way! That's been the story all my life. After a lifetime of giving you advice you never asked for-and never took-you're finally on your own. Best of luck!" A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 12:00pm at Culpeper National Cemetery. Pastor Jared Heaton will officiate.
Mr. Proper was born October 1, 1963, in Flint, Michigan, son of the late James Earl Proper Sr. and Arlene Lunette Piper Proper. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, was a CDL commercial driver, licensed pilot, real estate agent, and a motorcycle enthusiast.
Glenn did not live an average life. He traveled where he wanted to travel, laughed inappropriately at every chance he got, learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix and loved who he wanted to love. He cherished his family and never met a stranger.
His devout feistiness and stubbornness had served him well throughout his life. And even in his waning months, he was a model of strong will and sheer determination right up until the end of his journey here on earth.
He is survived by his siblings, family, friends, and the rest of you people.
His siblings are: Jamie-Lyn (Bob) Shoup of Arkansas, Robin (Otto) Konopa of Middletown, James (Suzanne) Proper Jr. of Texas, Kim (Eddie) Rinker of Edinburg, Bart (Andrea) Proper of Frederick, Maryland; nieces and nephews: Kristina Steward, Otto (Dana) Konopa, Janna Konopa, James (Amy) Konopa, Michael (Beth) Rinker, Amanda (John) Vasquez, Sarah Proper, Brian Proper, Kayleigh Cotton, Anthony Proper, Eddy Proper, Octavian Rinker, Owen Proper, Olivia Proper, Ava Proper; great-nieces, Calissa Steward, Iliana Konopa; and numerous great-nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301
