Jack Orndorff Obituary
A funeral service for Jack will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Round Hill Church of The Brethren with Rev. Bruce Noffsinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery, also known as Sand Ridge.
Jack was born in Winchester, VA on September 13, 1963 a son of Jack Allen and Vallie Rinker Orndorff, Sr. He was a 1981 graduate of Strasburg High School and member of Round Hill Church of The Brethren where he served as former chairmen of the board. Jack was the Chief Operator for the Town of Woodstock Waste Water Treatment Plant and former Asst. Chief of the Town of Strasburg Waste Water Treatment Plant. He was an active and dedicated member of the Maur -Brook-Olive Ruritan Club where he served as past president. He was a member of Toms Brook Fire Department where he served as a former Chief, President, Secretary and Treasurer, and a member of the Strasburg Moose Lodge 403. He served as a Pack Leader for the Cub Scouts and was a Little League Coach/ Umpire for many years receiving an invitation to serve at the State Little League Tournament. He had a love for the Strasburg Rams, the outdoors and hunting, his time spent in the Caribbean and Aruba. He loved music and dancing especially if the band included a fiddle.
Jack participated in a cancer research study at the National Institute of Health 25 years ago resulting in advanced changes to the diagnosis and treatment procedures still utilized in patient treatments today.
Jack was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Philip A. and Maggie Orndorff; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Mildred Rinker; numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his loving wife Judy Painter Orndorff of Strasburg; his beloved son and light of his life, William A. Orndorff of Strasburg; His parents, Jack Allen Orndorff, Sr. and Vallie Virginia Rinker Orndorff of Strasburg; a brother, Steve Orndorff and wife, Mary B. and their daughter, McKenna J. Orndorff.
Pallbearers will be Andy Orndorff, Gary Orndorff, Bob Lake, Larry Funkhouser, Paul Nesselrodt, Mike Costello, Keith Manich, and Bill Ryan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Maur-Brook-Olive Ruritan Club.
The family will receive friends at Round Hill Church of The Brethren on Thursday evening from 6-8 P.M.

William will miss his father and I will miss my best friend and husband. Jack fought cancer hard - two times. He NEVER gave up. Jack also agreed to participate in cancer research - he wanted to help future generations - and try to FINALLY stop this disease. Like I promised Jack, we will move forward, one small step at a time.
