James Utterback Obituary

James Mortimer Utterback Jr. was born May 13, 1939 in Washington, D.C. and died on September 12, 2010, at his home in Slanesville, WV.

Jimmy was the son of the late James Mortimer Utterback and the late Hilda Viola Unger.

He is survived by his wife Carol (Kiley) Utterback, sons, Danny (Lori) Moore of Denton, MD, Jimmy Utterback of Leesburg, VA, Johnny Utterback of Mt. Falls Park, VA, Jett (Sherri) Utterback of Wardensville, WV and Jeff (Cindy) Utterback of Brookneal, VA. Additionally his grandchildren, Russell, Julia, Sara and the late Kaitlyn survive him. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Larry) Lowe of Alexandria, VA.

Jimmy was born and raised in Washington, D.C. There was no challenge too big for him and he was willing to do work whenever and wherever he could.

Strongly knowledgeable in antiques and collectibles, he took a life-long interest in carnival and roadside lifestyles and provided for his family. He retired in Slanesville and enjoyed the privacy and seclusion he'd always desired.

Jimmy loved his home and land and the animals that populated his farm. He was a NRA member who looked forward to deer season every year. He also enjoyed fishing as much as hunting.

Family and friend will miss the quick, sharp humor (including pranks) and his huge caring heart. The community will miss a helpmate and supporter.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday 2-4 &7-9 at the McKee Funeral Home Augusta, WV.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 15, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta with Chaplain Stephon Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Marshall Cemetery, Marshall Va.

All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV.
