To the entire Cutlip family,
I first met John when he was appointed as our first County Administrator, and I a young 'cub' reporter for WSIG. His professionalism and knowledge of how things really work in county government were a pleasure to see in action. John was always helpful to me and could be relied upon to provide details that helped me in my news reporting. In later years his friendliness whenever our paths crossed were most welcome. His passing is not only a loss to you, but to his entire extended Shenandoah County family. His 4-H, as well as administrative career are an inspiring and challenging legacy for all to seek to achieve. It was a pleasure knowing John.

JD, Joy and family -- Gene, Lillian and I send you our sincerest sympathy in the loss of your father, JD. We lost Gene's dad unexpectedly a month ago and you stop and ask the question, "why?" My answer was that God was looking for another angel. I'm sure your dad is one of those angels now as well. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.
