John Hicks Obituary

John Marvin Hicks, age 58, of Front Royal died Tuesday, March 01, 2011 in Warren Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home with Deacon Michael Berry officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Hicks was born in Dante, on January 6, 1953, a son of Ona Lambert Hicks and the late Roy Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Shenandoah Shores Volunteer Fire Department. He was the owner of a landscape excavating company, enjoyed old cars, was an avid NASCAR fan, and was an antique collector. He was a member of Cool Springs Church of God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Mr. Hicks dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Alice Moore Hicks; his son, Lucas Hicks of Front Royal; his daughters, Wendy Brown and husband Michael, Lisa Neidigh and husband Jim and Stephanie Gray and husband Cory all of Front Royal; his brothers, Ralph Hicks of Woodbridge, Harold Hicks of Front Royal, Darrell Hicks of Columbus, GA, Jerry Hicks of Fredericksburg, and Roy Hicks of St. Louis, MO; his sisters, Sue Cornett and Barbara Large both of Front Royal; and his grandchildren, Dalton Rector, Cameron Rector, Joey Neidigh, Matt Neidigh, Kayla Neidigh, Landon Gray, Mason Gray, Peyton Gray, Travis Brown, JT Brown, Hunter Munson, Lindsey Morrison and Samantha Morrison.

In addition to his father, Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Hicks in 1973; and his brothers, Jimmy Hicks and Dean Hicks.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Harold Hicks, Roy Hicks, Jerry Hicks, Ralph Hicks, Darrell Hicks, Randy Moore and Mike Pfister. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Sealock, John Lanham and his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to Cool Springs Church of God, 3705 Gooney Manor Loop, Browntown, VA 22610.

This came up in my email today to remind me of how much we all miss you. Wish you were here. So many changes in life since you went away. You would love the granddaughter's and the great grandchildren. There is so many things I would love to tell you, of course you know that Mom is up there with you now and so is Tucker, for the rest of us, we will wait our turn. Our life is not the same but we think of you daily. The spring flowers are coming up that I planted in your memory but of course you may know that also.
