John Whitehouse Obituary


John Joseph Whitehouse, 84, of Millwood, Virginia, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Whitehouse was born August 7, 1924 in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of J. Lloyd and Elizabeth Mary Walsh Whitehouse.

He was a postal carrier with the United States Postal Service.

He served in the U. S. Marines during WWII.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winchester where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Postal Service Union and American Legion in Arlington, Virginia.

He married Annah Lee Haslegg on January 22, 1949 in Arlington, Virginia.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Michael Whitehouse of Clearbrook, VA; a daughter, Judy Hawse of Winchester, VA; a sister, Rosemary McWhorter of New Jersey; a brother, Jerry Whitehouse of Warrenton, VA; and three grandchildren, Sarah Branch, Elizabeth Whitehouse, and Jacob Whitehouse.

A brother, Joseph Whitehouse, preceded him in death.

Graveside rites will be held 3:00 P. M. Saturday, February 7, 2009 in Ebenezer Cemetery in Loudoun County, VA with Rev. Ramon Baez officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shenandoah Farms Fire & Rescue, 6363 Howellsville Rd., Front Royal, VA 22630.

Arrangements are being handled by Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.
