Mark Clay Obituary

Mark Clay passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in the arms of his beloved wife. Mark was born in Kentucky in 1966 before moving to LaGrange, Georgia. At the age of 12, Mark moved to Front Royal, Virginia, where he spent the majority of the rest of his life.

Mark was successful in work life, creating several small businesses, Mark Clay Music, Clay Entertainment, LLC, and Winchester Home Consulting, while enjoying his primary job with Van Metre Homes and the amazing relationships he made there. He was genuinely happy in every aspect of his career and felt privileged to have the opportunity to build all the authentic relationships with those whom he truly considered family.

Mark touched many, many lives with his kind, gentle heart, his strong desire to make everyone he met happy, and his beautiful, untouchable gift of music. He was an incredibly talented musician who has written countless songs, several which have been recorded and are in production. He was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to record some original music in Nashville recently. Many local friends remember Mark entertaining the town at The Lucky Star Lounge. He had since branched out, sharing his music with so many, having the opportunity to tour the east coast along with a few venues in the south and the west coast. His passion for music was only second to his love for his family and his friends. Mark loved fiercely with his whole heart and would put every ounce of energy into his relationships. He will never be forgotten. His love, his music, and his kindness will be here with us and live on in each one of us for all of time.

Mark is survived by his wife, Bevin Lewis of Boyce, VA; his sister Katie Clay-Bertrand of Jamestown, TN; his daughter Jade Jenkins of Front Royal, VA; his stepson Camden Hansford Lewis White; and his stepdaughter Victoria Grace White. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2025, with the location TBD. For updates on the service, please contact Maddox Funeral Home or family members. Updates will also be posted to social media.

Mark, you were such an incredible person who was warm hearted, talented, and full of love for your family and friends. We may not have seen each other in years, but I followed your life through Facebook and was always touched by your kindness, intelligence, and creative spirit. I´ll always remember you as a kind classmate from high school and a genuinely good soul.

I'm so glad we got to see you at Twisted Oak. Sure going to miss you! Always had a warm greeting, a smile, and good music to greet everyone. Won't be the same hearing you call out a welcoming greeting, or hear you sing Down at the Lucky Star Lounge. I bet you're singing with the angels and smiling right now. Until we meet again, my friend...

I have known Mark from church and from dancing to his music for many years. I have gotten to know his sweetheart, Bevin and knew they were meant for each other. Losing you as a friend, Mark, is heartbreaking, but God made you to bring joy to others, and you did that. I will always cherish our friendship. Love you and Will miss you. Bevin is also very close to my heart. I pray God watches over her.

I first met Mark alongside his wife, Bevin, while I was working as a kitchen associate at Naked Mountain Winery and Vineyards, which is where Mark performed on several occasions. To say that Mark enjoyed playing music and putting on a crowd was an understatement. He was a kind-hearted and talented soul who left this world way too soon, but the Lord was ready for him. To Bevin, friends and family, y'all are in my prayers. Rest in paradise, Mark, you are no longer in any pain. Keep on rockin'

I worked with Mark at Domino´s for many years and we also were very good friends outside of work and shared our love of the Skins and Mark was a Braves fan as well. I will miss our times together and the good times we had with all our Domino´s Family. How he loved to play his guitar and sing for us when he had the chance. I will miss him deeply and will cherish our last conversations over the last few months that we had. I love you too Mark and RIP my Bubba!

Mark was a remarkable man with a beautiful soul. I will miss his kind smile and his friendly voice. Certain he is in Heaven singing with the Angels and having a toast with my brother George. My prayers and condolences for Bevin, family and friends.
