Pamela Marcon Obituary

Pamela Leigh Marcon passed away peacefully Friday, May 23, 2025 surrounded by family and dear friends during her final days in Front Royal, VA, at the age of 76. Pam fought a courageous battle of declining health for some time.

A free spirit with an artist's soul, Pam was a prolific and passionate painter. Her life was a canvas of colorful experiences. She was a talented dancer, actress and photographer, an extraordinary astrologist, a spectacular bartender, an avid gardener, had a black belt in karate and was the holder of Patent A41D104 for a survival vest. She was a kind, generous, and loyal friend with a sarcastic wit and a knack for remembering names of people and pets.

Pam worked and lived in North Arlington, VA, for over 45 years and was known for the murals she painted on her house as well as various commissioned art installations throughout the county, including "Street Flight" in Crystal City, a government contractor building office exhibit, and participation in Lyon Park, Clarendon and Ballston artisan studio and festival showings. She leaves behind a special collection of her artwork on display at Gooney Creek Campground in Front Royal, VA.

Alongside her mother, Gloria Marcon, Pam ran Gooney Creek Campground for many years. She continued the 30 plus year legacy Gloria left of many repeat campers becoming lifelong friends. Pam not only kept a keen eye on all of the comings and goings of the Shenandoah Valley tourists either from her patio office recliner or from her third floor balcony, but also, she admired all the campground wildlife, (especially the black long haired, green eyed "mascat" well known to campers as PUPPYCAT)!

Pam is survived by her sister (and new campground owner) Valerie Wilson (Portland, OR) and brother Jeffrey Marcon (Dagsboro, DE). She was preceded in death by her parents and many cherished pets. Valerie would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Blue Ridge Hospice and all Front Royal First Responders for their excellent care. She also deeply thanks Shirley Owens, Dana Williams, and the Wilson extended family in Marshall, VA, for their dedication to the Marcon Family and to Miranda and Justin Trujillo for picking up where Pam left off and then some.

There will be a private memorial for Pam later this Summer at Gooney Creek Campground.
