Randolph Foltz Obituary


Randolph H. Foltz, 94, of Edinburg VA, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:00am at Valley Baptist Church in Edinburg, where he was a long-time member. Pastor Chad Estep will officiate. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the St. John's UCC Hamburg cemetery.

Mr. Foltz passed over from the Darkness of this World to be with the "ONE and ONLY, THE TRUE LIGHT" of this world, JESUS CHRIST, to be in FELLOWSHIP with HIM throughout ETERNITY.

He was born on December 7, 1928, in Hamburg, VA, to the late James Ray (J Ray) and Alice Estep Foltz. He is preceded in death by his second wife, Jayne Worsley Foltz; brothers, J.R. Foltz Jr. and wife, Sue Miller Foltz, Donald Foltz and wife, Evelyn Heishman Foltz.

Leaving high school to fill a call to serve his country, he enlisted in the US Army. After basic training in Ft. Lewis, WA, he was assigned to the 1st Calvary 7th Reg. Tokyo, Japan. He served in the Occupation of Japan for 4 years under the Command of Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur at GHQ 71st Signal Battalion. One year in Ft. Monmouth, NJ, then over a year with the 3rd Inf. 10th Engineers in Korea before being discharged at Ft. Meade, MD, with over 7 years of service at the rank of Sgt. He was proud to have served under Gen. Mac Arthur, a great leader for his time and his HERO.

While in the military he received the following awards: Occupation Medal (Japan), Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. On November 12, 2023, he was presented the Ambassador for Peace Medal by the Government of South Korea. He also worked and retired from the United States Postal Service as City Mail Carrier, Clerk and Assistant Postmaster at Woodstock VA.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Foltz and wife, Anita; granddaughter, Atina Foltz and former spouse, Scott Coffman Sr.; two great grandchildren, Scott Jr. and Rachel Coffman; nieces, Donna Spaur (Mike) and Suzanne Foltz; nephew, Donn Lee Foltz (Melissa); and numerous cousins and relatives.

He was always proud to be a member of the 1946/1947 Edinburg High School Class and the Hamburg School.

Pallbearers will be Joe Raines, Mark Kuschel, Curt Adkins, Jordan Rinker, Rick Lambert, and Aaron Lewis.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for the excellent care and treatment given during his 12 days of hospital stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Valley Baptist Christian School, 408 Stoney Creek Rd. Edinburg, VA, 22824.
