Shirley Ann Sanders Savage, 86, of Castleton passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Jackson House. She was born February 2, 1939 to the late Roy and Mae Sanders in Dallas, TX.
In September 1956, she met the love of her life, Lindsey D. Savage. They were married on February 20, 1957, and remained devoted to one another until his passing in July 2020. Together, they evangelized as ministers of the Gospel across the United States, conducted tent revivals, preaching camp meetings, and served in missionary work in Mexico, Panama, the San Blas Islands, and the Philippines. Over the years, they pastored six churches.
In 1981, they founded Massanova Christian Academy, where Sister Savage faithfully served for 30 years. During their time pastoring Massanova Pentecostal Church, she also ministered in nursing homes, organized the annual Mother-Daughter Banquet for 25 years, and spoke at numerous ladies' retreats across the country.
In 1994, she began writing, publishing, and authoring ten books and several CDs. She also produced gospel tracts and children's coloring books in Spanish with over one million copies being freely distributed to missionaries around the world.
Shirley & her husband traveled to 6 countries during the 9 group Holy Land tours that Bro. Savage coordinated and hosted. Shirley was a devoted wife, minister, teacher, and servant of God. Her heart for people, her faithfulness to the call of God, and her unwavering love for all left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Shirley is survived by her son, Ricky D. Savage and wife, Melody of Duran OK; daughter-in-law, Marsha Savage of Rixeyville, VA; grandchildren, Ricky D. Savage, II and wife, Christina, Brian S. Savage and wife, Karen, Corry A. Savage and wife, Jennifer, DeVonna A.Weatherholtz and husband, Kenny, and Whitney E. Tinnin and husband, Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Ricky Savage, III and wife, Sydney, Ethan Savage, Callie Savage, Wesley Weatherholtz and wife, Kailey, Raeley Savage, Holly Savage, Garrett Weatherholtz, Oliver Tinnin, Anna-B, and Layla; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In 2025, she was honored with a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies from Heritage Bible College in recognition of her lifelong dedication to ministry and teaching.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Bible Holiness Church, 127 Pine Street, Elkton, VA.
Interment will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, 2677 Fravel Road, Woodstock, VA.
