Dan Wideman Obituary

Dan E. Wideman, age 65, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away April 14, 2009, at Fort Walton Beach.
Dan was born on June 6, 1943, in Alexandria, Va., to the late James and Laura (Savage) Wideman. He served his country faithfully in the United States National Guard. Dan loved to read and was a dedicated Washington Redskins fan. He had vast interests in planes and automobiles. One of Dan's greatest passions was being an avid Mustang show car collector. He enjoyed the friendships he made in the local and international Mustang clubs. He cherished time spent with his loving family and will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.
Dan is survived by his sister, Lisa Philbin and her husband Austin of Clinton, Mass.; nephew, Austin Philbin and his wife Diem of Parlin, N.J.; nieces, Lauren Pupecki and her husband Jon of Clinton, and Jessica Philbin of Boston; and great-nieces, Olivia and Eva Pupecki.
The family will receive friends at Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 8 N.E. Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, on Sunday, April 19, from 3 to 5 p.m., with complimentary valet parking.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making contributions to the American Cancer Society, 339 N.W. Racetrack Road, No. 24, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547.

I knew Dan from the many times he drove our crew van from the airport to the hotel. He was always kind and good to us, and went out of his way to make our stay in Ft. Walton extra special. Many airline crews will miss Dan!

Dan-E was a kind and gentle man. Loved to eat. As part of the family he was "one of a kind". I really enjoyed him at the beach when he came. He will be greatly missed.
