Daryl Bryan Obituary

Daryl Allen Bryan, 37, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Crestview, Fla., and Bartlett, Ill., passed away Aug. 26, 2012, at Shands Cancer Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Daryl was born in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., grew up in Crestview, and attended schools in Crestview, Okaloosa Walton Community College and Florida State University. After graduating from FSU in 1999 with a degree in mechanical engineering, he moved to the Chicago area. He was a licensed mechanical engineer in Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida. In 2007, he and his family relocated to Jacksonville, Fla., where he was a member of Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church and where he enjoyed working with the church youth. Daryl is survived by his wife, Joanna Brooke Garland Bryan; and his son, Alexander Daniel Bryan, both of Jacksonville; his parents, Janet and Ronnie Bryan, of Crestview; his brother, sister-in-law, and nephew, Steven, Kim and Connor Bryan; his maternal grandmother, Marian Sturrup, of Fort Walton Beach; his father-in-law, Jeff Garland, of Geneva, Fla.; and large extended family.
Services were held Sept. 1, 2012, at Kernan Boulevard Baptist Church in Jacksonville; his ashes were interred at Live Oak Park Cemetery in Crestview.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shands Bone Marrow Transplant Fund at the University of Florida Shands Cancer Hospital in Gainesville.
