Kohl Schilling Henson

1985 - 2015

The world lost a bright light and a beautiful soul on Dec. 6, 2015.
Kohl Schilling Henson was born on Feb. 2, 1985, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Blair Woodward Henson (of Niceville, Florida) and Kathryn "Tappy" Schilling (of Crestview, Florida). He passed away after a brief illness in Niceville. Kohl loved to read, travel, hike and spend time with friends and family. He enjoyed the outdoors and the beach while living both in Florida and Hawaii.
He also had a great love of music and would travel across the country to attend various concerts and music festivals with family and friends. His interests included playing the drums, Everquest, and he always had a soft spot in his heart for animals.
Kohl leaves behind his parents, Tappy and Blair; his younger brother, Clay Ellis Henson; his maternal grandfather, James N. Schilling of Crestview; and his paternal grandparents, Cassandra Ellis Henson and James C. Henson of Memphis. Also, his uncle, Bryan Henson of Naples, Florida; aunt, Beth Henson Tudan, and uncle, Costi Tudan of Vienna, Virginia; along with numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends survive him.
His grandmother, Sara Kohler Schilling (Gammie), and aunt, Cynthia Anne Schilling, preceded him in death.
Kohl graduated from Niceville High School in 2003 and made several lifelong friends while being a part of the wrestling team there.
He also graduated from Santa Fe Community College and had just reenrolled at the University of West Florida to finish his senior year in Hospitality Management.
There will be a time of visitation held at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Heritage Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, or to any "animal rescue" group of your choice.
