Walter Lynch Obituary

Walter Russell Lynch Sr. died peacefully at age 100 while sleeping in his home on Saturday, April 7, 2012.
He was born on July 4, 1911. He served in the Navy from 1934 to 1953, and then went on to serve in the Merchant Marine until he retired in 1981. He was in good health until the day he died.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada McCoy Lynch; and his oldest son, Walter Russell Lynch Jr. He is survived by a daughter, Annette Teresa Lynch; a son, William Charles Lynch; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew Joseph Lynch and Diane Williamson Lynch; and a grandson, Matthew Joseph Lynch Jr.
A military memorial service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla., on Friday, April 27, at 1:15 p.m. with Navy Chaplain Ken Griffin presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to honor his memory at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. Memorials to the Museum should be mailed to Matt Lynch, P.O. Box 4382, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
