Born: April 12, 1929; in Philippines

Died: Nov. 17, 2015; in Woodstock, IL

Benjamin Estrada Canto, age 86, of Woodstock, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at his home in Woodstock surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 12, 1929 in the Philippines to Rufino and Jovita (Estrada) Canto.

Benjamin worked at Valley Hi Nursing Home as a CNA for many years.

He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock.

He enjoyed taking vacations back home to the Philippines. But, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Rena Canto; two daughters, Rose Belinda Canto, and Lucita Canto; four sons, Benjamin (Digna) Canto Jr., Eduardo (Josephine) Canto, Reynaldo (Elisa) Canto, and Rufino Canto; 20 grandchildren; and two sisters, Veron Canto, and Meding Basbas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Maxima Canto.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 2:00 until 6:00 pm at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock. Burial will be at Moldex Eternal Gardens Memorial Park, Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Journey Care Hospice.
