Donald L. Hironimus Jr. 83, of McHenry, passed away November 5, 2022, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He was born October 9, 1939, to Donald Sr. and Emma (Gross) Hironimus in Waukegan. In his younger years, he owned a restaurant in the 70's. He moved back to Illinois in 2006 when he married Kathleen Halley on July 5, 2006.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 16 years Kathleen Halley Hironimus; sister; Carole (Tom) Bufton; daughter; Gretchen Christman, son: David (Sue) Hironimus, step-children; Robyn (Bob) Mandarino, Jason Halley, Megan (Dave) Pontarelli, grandchildren; Rachel (Chris) Zapp, William (Katie) Pulera, Zachary Pulera, Charles Hironimus, step-grandchildren; Andrew, Anna, Austin and Aaron Halley, Alyssa, Zachary and Joseph Mandarino, Isabella and Sophia Pontarelli, great grandchildren; Delavyn and Donavyn Christman, Skylar Pulera, Emma and Kayla Zapp, Noah, Bristol and Issac Hironimus, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheryl Walters, step-son, Jeremy Halley, grandsons; Nicholas Christman and Alexander Pulera.
He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9167.
Memorial Mass will be held Monday November 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, Illinois. Inurnment will follow the Mass at St. John's Cemetery.
