Edward Anderson Obituary

Edward Anderson

Born: March 7, 1948; in Harvard, IL

Died: Sept. 22, 2014; in Madison, WI

Edward "Cobb" Anderson, age 66, of Harvard, IL, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014, at William S. Middleton VA Hospital in Madison, WI surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 7, 1948, in Harvard, IL, to Charles and Julia (Meier) Anderson. He proudly served as a Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War. On October 20, 1973, he married Eileen Kruckenberg in Harvard, IL.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Eileen; and his three daughters, Lisa (Bennie) Gonzalez of South Beloit, WI, Laurie Alexander of Belvidere, IL, and Lea Pantaleo of Harvard, IL; he is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, David, Jocelyn, and Aubry Gonzalez, Addye and Allye Alexander, and Malin Pantaleo; he is also survived by a brother, Joseph (Elizabeth) Anderson; his sisters, Kathleen (Jim) Yates, Sharon Burnett, Charlene (Dennis) Fairbanks, Midge (Tom) Condon, Lynn (Steve) Vermett, and Rita (Rollie) Peters; and his brother-in-law, Delbert Wells; he is also survived by his brothers in law, George (Jeanette) Kruckenberg, James Kruckenberg, Kenneth (Sandy) Kruckenberg, Victor (Sandra) Kruckenberg, Arthur (Meg) Kruckenberg, and Chester Kruckenberg; he is also survived by many dear friends, including Gary and Karen Pack of Roscoe, IL; and many loving nieces, nephews and close cousins.

Cobb was an avid outdoorsman who loved many things, but above all, he cherished spending time with his bride and his daughters, grandchildren, and other family. He loved all of his many hunting and fishing trips with his brother and nephews. When he wasn't home enjoying his garden, he was at his second home in the Dells, fishing and tooling around on his golf cart. Cobb was always the life of the party, quick with a joke and his wonderful laugh and smile. He was an amazing man with a kind, gentle, and caring heart that touched so many people. He made a lasting impression on everyone he ever met. Surrounded by mostly women his whole life, he enjoyed attending all of his nieces baby showers and parties and was lovingly referred to as "Aunt" Cobb by many of his nieces. There are no words to express how much Cobb will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Vivian Kruckenberg; his sister, Nancy Wells; and his sister-in-law, Jean Harnisch.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses, and other care providers at the VA hospital in Madison (especially unit 7B).

The visitation and celebration of life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1601 N. Garfield Rd. Harvard, IL 60033. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 am on Monday, September 29, 2014.

A big loss to all that knew Cobb...It was a blessing to know you. I thank you for your humor and hospitality for all the years I waited on you at Town & Country. May you rest in peace. Sending thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Eileen and family,
So sorry to learn of Cobb's passing. He fought so hard but there's a measure of comfort knowing that his suffering has ended.
My heart goes out to all of the Andersons knowing so well the sadness you all feel.
I never thought I would stop crying after Crab passed but this quote by William Shakespeare gave my tears perspective and I hope it helps. "To weep is to make less the depth of grief".
Know he is at peace and in heaven.
There are the most wonderful people around you to help you through your trying times and I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers too.
