George Sigurd Hartmann Jr., born December 18, 1934 in Chicago to George Sr. & Elsie (Schwaller) Hartmann. He passed away peacefully September 25, 2021, at his home on Wonder Lake, surrounded by his family.
Joined in marriage to Jean Mary Dickman, August 24, 1957 at Christ the King Church, Wonder Lake. He adored Jean for 44 years on earth and continued to for 20 more years while she was in heaven.
George was the definition of a simple man. An electrician by trade, he owned and operated Tri-Marine in Wonder Lake. He worked hard, fixed things when they broke, earned respect, believed in building things with his hands, and loved his family unconditionally. George's favorite times were spent on the waters of Wonder Lake, sailing, fishing, driving his pontoon boat, and windsurfing. His art took form in his woodworking shop where all of his grandchildren can remember helping stain or sand his creations. He led and lived a beautifully simple life focused on family.
Survived by his children Patti (Kevin Ruddy) Hartmann, Caryn (John) Shiel, Nanci (Steve) Lebda, George III (Diane Law) Hartmann, Bob (Tami) Hartmann, Bill (Brenda) Hartmann. Grandchildren Sean, Kyle (Allison), & Bryan (Melissa Swift) Shiel, Brett (Katie), Arik (Brea Imse) Lebda & Amanda (Jeff) Tylka, Hollie (Kenny) Ayers, George IV (Melissa), Maycie, & Lane Hartmann, Derek & Abigail Hartmann, Bria, Bryce Anne, Blake & Ben Hartmann. Great-grandchildren Max & Oliver Ayers, Colten & Jace Tylka, and Lincoln Hartmann. Brother Tom (Mary) Hartmann. In-laws Tom Mathews, Clare Hartmann, Mary Dickman, Judy Biggers, Bob Dickman, Mark (Tracie) Dickman. Special family friends Al Mrowka, Sylvain & Lucie (Josianne & Cody) Turcotte, long-time caregiver Nancy McCabe, many special nieces, nephews and friends. George was everyone's 'Grandpa'.
Preceded in death by his wife Jean, parents George & Elsie, siblings Lois (Hartmann) Mathews and Jim Hartmann, in-laws Fred Dickman, Bob 'Harvey' Biggers, Joanne (Dickman) Slack, and Bud Slack.
Funeral arrangement:
Join the family to celebrate George's life – Wednesday, September 29, 2021, from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, at Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home, 7611 Hancock Dr. Wonder Lake, IL 60097. Visitation will resume Thursday September 30, 2021 at Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM, A Funeral Mass will follow at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, 5006 E Wonder Lake Road Wonder Lake, IL 60097. Interment will follow at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Wonder Lake.
In lieu of flowers:
George was passionate about supporting many charities including; JDRF, CF Foundation, and The Wonder Lake Water Ski Show Team. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made out to George Hartmann Memorial Fund.

To the Hartmann Family,
We had many happy times with your father. We always looked forward to seeing him every winter at IBE.
You all took such great care of him over the years. Don´t know how you all made those trips to Florida, making sure he was never alone.
He surely will be missed.
