Hans Sorensen Obituary

Hans Michael Sorensen
Born: September 24, 1951 in Elgin, IL
Died: June 16, 2025 in Crystal Lake, IL
Hans Michael "Mike" Sorensen, age 73, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was born September 24, 1951 in Elgin to the late Hans Christian Lumbye and Donna Jean (Arendt) Sorensen and was one of four children. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving sisters, Laureen (Leroy) Buchanan and Karen Sorensen; his cherished children, Angela (Ron), Cheryll, Nora (Rob), Michael, and Faith; and his many nieces and nephews, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mark Steven (Donna) Sorensen and niece Margaret Buchanan.
His strength and optimism during his years fighting cancer showed his determination to be there for his kids as long as possible. Mike continued to work during treatments and discomfort, with people he loved and who loved him dearly. Even in his final weeks, he kept his amazing humor and kept us laughing and smiling.
Mike had a love for walking, especially with his late father, and watching/attending sports games with his son. He was a collector of fun collectable toys, and more, which kept him young at heart. He saw the value in things that most overlook.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be no services, per Mike's request.
