Harold R. "Bud" Koplin, 91, of Wilmington, NC passed away unexpectedly March 10, 2024.
He was born September 19, 1932 in Seneca Township, IL to Erwin and Frances Koplin. On August 13, 1973 Bud married Gloria L Koplin. They lived in Union, IL for many years ,and later moved to Murrells Inlet, SC. Bud was a veteran of the Korean War, and earned a living as a livestock dealer in the northern Illinois area. Bud enjoyed golfing, a cold beer, a good meal and time with family and friends. He and Gloria traveled together on many road trips throughout the United States and visits to casinos.
Bud is survived by his children, Jason Koplin of Wilmington, NC, Robert (Melissa) Hansen of Pelion, SC, Dennis (Wendy) Hansen of Jackson, MO, Laura (Mike) Mitchell of Marengo, IL and Joseph Hansen of Monroe Center, IL. Bud is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, his sister, Betty Sorenson of Woodstock, brother, Dennis (Barb) Koplin of Marengo and brother Robert (Joyce) Koplin of Marengo as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Frances Koplin, wife Gloria Koplin, his son John Hansen, daughter in law Linda Hoover, sister Lucille Boettcher, sister Shirley Osterberg, brother Don Koplin and brother Jerry Koplin.
There will be a gathering from 10 to 11 am Saturday, March 23, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St, Union. The memorial service will be at 11am. Following the memorial service, his family would love for you to join them in celebrating his life at a location that will be announced at the memorial service.
