John Joseph Kligis, 100, of Huntley passed away Monday evening, April 19, 2021, at JourneyCare in Barrington.
He was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Kenosha, WI the son of John and Malvina (Dargis) Kligis. John was a member of the United States Coast Guard for 3 years and then served in the United States Navy for 22 years. He married Frances Silunas on June 8, 1986, in Wauconda, IL. John was a proud Navy veteran and was a DAV Commander dedicating his life to helping veterans. He loved fishing and traveling the world. John was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntley, and a 4th Degree Knight of the Huntley Knights of Columbus, Council # 11666.
Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Frances; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Anthony; and sister, Ann Zukauskas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Sat. April 24 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd., Huntley followed by Military Honors at the church.
Visitation will be at James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St. in Huntley on Sat. from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
