Josephine "Josie" "Jo" P. Van Duyn, of Woodstock, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 4, 2016, at the age of 92.
Josephine was born in Chicago, March 3, 1924, and was a long time resident of McHenry county. She was a former member of Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, McHenry and current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wooodstock.
After 25 years of service Josie retired in 1986 from Controls Company of America, where she had worked to her way up from being an assembler to Personnel secretary. She spent her retirement years at her home in Solon Springs, WI. For the past 3 years Josie was a resident of Valley Hi Nursing home, where she served as President of the Resident Council for 2 terms. Josie enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Chicago Blackhawks.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Valley Hi Nursing Home for the care and compassion extended to Josie while she was a resident.
She is survived by her children, Michael Gallagher (Joan), Steven Plein, Vivian Van Duyn (Catherine Martin), Margaret Morgenson (Rodney); grandchildren, Virginia Gallagher, Michael Gallagher Jr. (Charity), Joseph P. Shulfer (Amy), Tyler Morgenson, Casey Morgenson; several great grandchildren, nieces and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Van Duyn; her son. John R Van Duyn; her parents and 3 siblings.
At Josephine's request a private family service will be held.
