Kenneth A. Chapman, age 87, of Woodstock, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Journeycare in Barrington. He was born in Chicago to Gladys (Fairweather) and Richard A. Chapman. Ken will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by the love of his life of 57 years, Andrea Chapman; three children, Andrea (Sig) Doerdelmann, Carlene (Marty) Bauwens and Kristy (Michael) Wallin; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Wallin, Christopher (Melissa) Chapman, Megan Doerdelmann, Ken Doerdelmann (Shasta), Emily, Amanda & Jessica Bauwens, Erin and Lucas Wallin; and five great-grandchildren, Marly, Dominic, Myah and Roman Chapman, and Maraelee Kretzer, as well as extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
He served in the United States Army from 1960 – 1963. Ken's finance career began in the Army processing payroll and progressed throughout the years. He retired in 1999 after 30 years in various finance positions at Northrop Grumman.
Ken loved his family beyond measure and treasured the time spent with everyone. He loved traveling, golfing, playing cards, bowling and cheering for the Chicago Bears and White Sox and was lucky to see them win the World Series. Ken and Andrea had the greatest love story, loving to dance and back in the day frequented the old-time cocktail lounges/dance halls. They were that couple that wore matching outfits and were inseparable, exemplifying the meaning of "endless love".
A memorial gathering in celebration of Ken's life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 9:30 am until the time of the memorial mass at 10:30 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave, in Woodstock. Lunch will be provided after Mass. All other services will be private. Arrangements were entrusted to Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.
