Leanor C. "Lee" Popp (nee' Storm), a longtime resident of Algonquin, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday evening, February 23, 2026.
Lee was born on January 2, 1941, in Cary, and was one of three children born to the late Glenn R. Sr. & Eleanor H. (nee' Lucas) Storm.
When Lee was in grade school, her family moved from her family farm in Cary to Algonquin. Lee was a graduate of Dundee Community High School and later attended and graduated from Concordia Teachers' College in River Forest in 1963.
While at Concordia, Lee met Clarence Popp, who was from Frohna, MO. They married on July 13, 1963.
After they married, Clarence and Lee purchased a home and began raising a family in Melrose Park, IL. After Clarence's unexpected passing in 1982, Lee relocated back to Algonquin.
Lee was an educator who taught for several years at various schools, including Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville, Jacobs High School in Algonquin, and Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park. Lee was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Algonquin.
Survivors include her three children, Bruce Popp, Paul (Roxann) Popp, and Marlene (Jason) McGinnis, all of Algonquin; her grandchildren, Brandon, Lauren, Alyssa, and Haley Popp, and Justin McGinnis; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her sister Carol Verbeck; as well as several beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 300 Jefferson St., Algonquin, with Rev. Jeremy Latzke, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Algonquin Cemetery in Algonquin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee, and again on Monday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
