Leo Goss Obituary

Leo Terry Goss
Born: April 2, 1933 in Burlington, IA
Died: October 4, 2022 in Crystal Lake, IL
Leo Terry Goss passed away October 4, 2022 in Crystal Lake, IL at The Pearl of Crystal Lake Long Term Care Facility.
Leo was born in Burlington, Iowa on April 2, 1933, the eldest child of Alfred J. and Gladys E. Goss. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1950 and was drafted into the Army in 1953. He completed basic training and was sent to Austria and traveled throughout Europe. After proudly completing his military service, Leo finished his education at the University of Iowa and received his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He held financial positions as a licensed CPA in various firms and operated his own consulting/accounting practice in Crystal Lake for many years. He authored a book about his unique accounting approach for construction contractors.
In 1957, Leo married the love of his life, LaDonna Kay McLaury and was the proud father of two daughters, Vicki and Karen. They moved around the Midwest, settling in Crystal Lake for the past 40 years. Some of his fondest memories were of summer car trips with his family, visiting National Parks and 45 states. He loved traveling with LaDonna to visit friends and family throughout the country, enjoyed hosting visitors, and adored their two poodles Tootsie and Toffee. He played golf and racquetball for several years, and spent many hours playing cards and dominoes. In addition, Leo loved all things related to cars, ice cream (especially when microwaved!), and a good greasy burger. And don't forget Diet Coke, Wheel of Fortune, and "Da Bears!"
Leo is survived by his loving children, Vicki Lynn (Robert) Lepianka, Karen (Greg) Kavanagh; cherished grandchildren, Julie and Steven Kavanagh, and devoted siblings, Connie (Burr) Japsen, Stephen (Diana) Goss, Sanchia (Peter) Semere, Lola (Henry) Deneault, and John (Arlene) Goss and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, LaDonna.
As a long-time member of the First Congregational Church (FCC) of Crystal Lake, Leo enjoyed the fellowship and many activities with his church couples' circle. He will be interred with his wife at the FCC Columbarium and a small private service will be held. Donations may be made in his memory to FCC, 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake, IL 60014 (815) 459-6010. Family members extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of The Springs/The Pearl for providing compassionate care these past few years.
