Lorna B. Schroeder, age 97, of McHenry, Illinois passed away on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021, at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, IL.
Lorna was born in Roselle, Illinois on September 14th,1923, the daughter of Edwin & Ella Pfingsten. She married her late husband, Edwin H. Schroeder, on October 21st, 1944, in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Lorna was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church. Aside from being an amazing cook, she sang in the choir and played in the bells choir. In her free time, she enjoyed ceramics. She was the best mom and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children: Marjorie (Clinton) Cederlund, Barbara (Geoff) Borritt, Valerie (late James) Astorino, Rev. James (Dr. Claudia) Schroeder, Mark (Eve) Schroeder, and Sarah (Robert) Anderson; her 13 grandchildren; her 27 great-grandchildren; her brother: Edgar (Carole) Pfingsten.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin & Ella Pfingsten; her husband: Edwin H. Schroeder; her daughter: Patricia Gurns; her sister: Alice Hughes; her sons-in-law: George Gurns and James Astorino.
A visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in McHenry on Wednesday, September 8th from 10:30 AM to the time of the service at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to JourneyCare Hospice 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010 or Senior Care Volunteer Network, 42 East St Ste C, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
