It is with deepest sadness that we announce the ending of the life of Nicholas C. Deka (a.k.a. Nick, Honey, Dad, Ba, Nicky, Dada, Nicky Mama). Born on July 10, 1975, in Melrose Park, IL, Nick passed away on August 2nd, 2024, in Crystal Lake, IL.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Deka; his three children, Macenzie, Reaghan, and Morgan; his parents, Kalyan Deka and Dipika Murphy, Kamala Deka, and Robert Murphy; his sisters Nina, Tara and Trisha, his brother Raja, his niece Mischa, and their loyal Dobermann, Ruger.
Nick enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his daughters' sporting events. When he wasn't driving them to practice, he found joy in cars, motorcycling, hunting, supporting Chicago sports teams, and savoring a good cigar. Nick was a volunteer Hunter Safety Instructor at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Nick had a long and successful career in leadership and sales roles in the educational software industry. Most recently, he was a Sales Consultant for EDUStaff, LLC. He earned his Master of Business Administration with a specialty in Organizational Behavior from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. Nick went to Naperville North High School.
There was always music when Nick was around. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone laugh and feel loved, cherishing the time spent with family and friends.
The Deka family will host a celebration of Nick's life on Friday August 9th, 4pm-8pm, at Lindy's Landing at 115 Park St, Wauconda, IL 60084.
