Richard Joseph Rogala, 79, of Huntley, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 10:58 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Born February 18, 1946, in Chicago to Joseph and Esther Rogala, Rich served proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Army. After his military service, he discovered his entrepreneurial spirit. He began by booking and managing bands before building a successful career in manufacturing. For four decades, he owned and operated Alagor Industries/Rich Industries, producing complex stamped parts for diverse industries. He also launched a T-shirt company with his son, Rich Jr., and delighted downtown Chicago with his hot dog stand, Cosmo Dogs. Through it all, Rich and his wife, Lynette, raised their three sons in Algonquin.
Endlessly curious and remarkably talented, Rich embraced life with passion. He loved music-from Mozart to Tom Waits-and was a voracious reader with a deep appreciation for art, especially the surreal works of Salvador Dalí. A masterful cook renowned for his osso buco, he even taught culinary arts. A lifelong Cubs and Bears fan, he coached youth baseball and excelled on the golf course. Generous and kind, Rich supported numerous charities, found joy in birdwatching, and cherished all animals-most of all his beloved dog, Wolfy.
Above all, Rich was the heart of every gathering: a brilliant storyteller, quick-witted jokester, and a magnetic presence who drew people in with warmth and humor.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jordan; father, Joseph; mother, Esther; and sister, Mary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynette; sons, Rich Jr. and Christian; grandchildren, Adelyn and Keenan; sisters, Laura Lynn and Carol; and a wide circle of family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Rich's extraordinary life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Randall Oaks Golf Club, 4101 Binnie Road, West Dundee, Illinois.
