Sandi S. Johnson, 59 of Marengo, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington.
Born Oct. 17, 1964 in Harvard, the daughter of Beverly Nelson and James L. Day. Attended Marengo High School until her senior year, graduating from Genoa High School. Married her loving husband Scott Johnson on Jan. 14, 1984 and together raised 2 boys. Sandi was the proud owner and operator of Sandi's Daycare in Marengo for over 35 years. She provided a safe and fun filled place for kids to grow and learn. Her hobbies included crafting, baking, snowmobiling, vacationing on a cruise ship and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a kind and caring person who will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her many daycare children.
Survivors include her devoted husband Scott; son's Ryan (Nicole) and Tyler (Nadine) Johnson; grandchildren, Grayson, Keegan, Blakely, Wyatt, and Teagan, Siblings, Tammi (Rod) Reed; niece, Ashley Reed. Jaclyn Proffitt held a special place in her heart as the "Daughter she never had". Rick and Kim Johnson fostered Sandi at a young age and later became in-laws through marriage. Garrett, Nicole, Adrian, Waylon, and Jeremiah Johnson were also large parts of Sandi's life.
She was preceded in death by her mother Beverly Nelson; her father, Larry J. Day; grandparents, Dorothy and Ed Nelson and father and mother-in-law, John Duane (Nancy) Johnson.
Memorial visitation to be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St. Union, IL, with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m.
Inurnment will be held privately at a later date in Marengo City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to: Special Olympics of Illinois, 500 Waters Edge, Ste 100, Lombard, IL 60148.
