I was just flicking through Facebook and came across you steve and thought I'd look and see how things are, i'm sorry to hear of the loss of a father and a truely great gentleman. Not enough words can describe you steve. But just a great man, very supportive and would go out of his way to make sure everyone was ok before himself. Sorry again to hear of your loss. Keith

It is very evident how many people you touched with your friendship and the love you had for your family.I will never forget the old days and the fun we had over the years growing up. God bless my friend you will be missed.

I always thought very highly of Steve in high school.He treated people well and was one of the sweetest most caring people. I am sorry that I lost touch with so many of my Cary Grove friends. I was honored to know Marty, thanks for the chat we had the night before I moved out, I will not forget.

I don't know if you remember me but my prayers are with you in your time of need. I know it's got to be hard, but as EVERYONE else has said YOU TWO were the light of your dad's life. He was SO proud of you both....

Steve, we had so many adventures together in the old days it's hard to single any one out. The '84 cubs game, Redbud, Halloween at SIU, being roomates, Hals, Tracks, the list goes on and on. We lost touch in the last 5-10 years but it was so good to see you at the 30th highschool reunion and the get together at Woolstreet before christmas. You left a great legacy with two beautiful daughters that will carry you in their hearts forever. Godspeed man.

Almost 10 years ago I meet Steve on the soccer field. I had my first team and I'm sure he knew I was in over my head. He was genuine with his advise and I will always remember him for that. From that day on he always asked me how the girls (my team) were doing.
I was so glad I got to return that same return that same question to him one day. Standing on the fence of the high school soccer field, he said that's my daughter, he smiled and pointed, one man could have never been prouder than he was that day.
Steve may you rest in peace.

I spoke briefly with Steve at the reunion last July. I lived on the same block on Elmwood briefly before Steve moved away and attended all four years with Steve at CG. He will be missed and prayers go out for his family. I am sorry. Rest in peace Steve.

I moved to Cary in 1976 and became a student at CGHS as a sophomore. Steve (Marty!!) was one of my first class mates that made me feel part of it. He was an instant friend (and one of my BEST friends) and remained that way throughout my time at CGHS and beyond. He had great taste in music in addition to being a song writer himself, and together we listened to allot of great music. He will sincerely be missed. I wish his family all the strength to help cope with this terrible tragedy. Rest In Peace Steve...

From the moment I saw the message many waking hours have been thinking of all the Wally World trips I took with Marty Moose and Chris. Then to see his beautiful daughters come into his life, and how muched he loved his girls. Heather and Hannah my heart and prayers go to you and Chris. My heart goes out to at this time . Just know that your Dad loved you two so very much ! When I did see him he'd always had a smile on his face when speaking about the two of you ! How proud he was of you both ! When he'd get to see you and do things with either it be fishing or about soccer ! He was a very proud Dad ! I wish I would have met you Heather and Hannah, and people close to Steve after high school. I left right after CGHS, but will always remember Steve as someone who took the time to give me a smile, no matter how tough guy he was trying to be and no matter what. Sometimes even a wink. Wow what a Shock! What a Big lose! Steve was a vary good person! I was in my first Rock band with Steve Martenson! Steve will always be in my good memories. What I will always remember of Steve is that he Loved life,he loved to party and he defiantly loved to and knew how to Rock on the Guitar. Steve....You....Will....Be......Missed!
