Thomas "Tom" G. Driver, 89 a longtime resident of Marengo, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in Huntley. Born July 10, 1934 at home in Huntley, the son of Graydon and Mary (Musser) Driver. After high school in 1954 he joined the United States Air Force and honorably served four years. On May 24, 1958 Tom married Dolores Kastning at Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo and were blessed with five loving children. Tom was employed for over 41 years at Arnold Engineering and retired in 2000. In retirement, he filled his free time with biking, visiting his mother and frequent visits with family and friends. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, especially the Cubs, Bulls and Bears.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Driver; children, Connie (Dennis) Hammortree, Cathi (Mook) Kunde, Michael (Tammie) Driver, James (Christy) Driver and Tim (Alicia) Driver; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; brother, William (RuthAnn) Driver; sisters, Mary Lou Richard and Carol Mortensen; brother-in-law, Ray Steinwehe and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ray Chambers; sister, Joan Steinwehe; daughter-in-law, Susan Driver and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jesse Velasquez for his kind friendship and frequent visits.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson Street in Marengo with a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to Zion Lutheran Church or School. My heart goes out to you, Dolores and "kids". I have good memories of working with Tom at Arnold and living across the street from you for 10 years. I always enjoyed seeing him on his bike and his quirky sense of humor!
