Andrew "Andy" Vanderbilt Cedar Lake / Lansing, IL Andrew "Andy" Vanderbilt, age 85, of Cedar Lake, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, passed away Monday, December 1, 2003. He is survived by his wife Betty Jane (Dirksen) of 62 years (married January 25, 1941); eight children: Patricia (Jack) DeVries of DeMotte, Judith Henderson of Orland Hills, IL, Robert Vanderbilt of Cedar Lake, David (Pat) Vanderbilt of Highland, LaVonne (David) Potter of Lemont, IL, Paul (Louise) Vanderbilt of Castle Rock, CO, Linda Vanderbilt of Tenino, WA and Barbara (John) Oaks of Medford, OR; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Charlotte Zigterman, Ruth Wiers, Minnie Fennema and Anna Mae Collins; two brothers Louis and Calvin Vanderbilt. Preceded in death by parents Anna and Hiram Vanderbilt and brothers Richard and Nelson Vanderbilt. Mr. Vanderbilt was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Crown Point and was a former member of Oak Glen Christian Reformed Church. He was the former owner of Oak Glen Builders and was a volunteer for the Disaster Relief for Christian Reformed World Relief Committee. He volunteered in layman ministries at Tri-State Nursing Home, Colonial Nursing Home and Helping Hand Mission. Friends may call at the Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, 811 East Franciscan Drive (on State Road 55 south of State Road 231), Crown Point, on Thursday from 2:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 5, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church, 909 East Greenwood Avenue, Crown Point with Rev. Joel Sheeres officiating. At rest, Skyline Memorial Park, Monee, Illinois. Memorials are preferred to Crown Point Christian School.
