Brett Alexander Nickels LAKE STATION, IN - Brett Alexander Nickels, 40 of Lake Station, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. He was born July 5, 1977 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Brett graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1995. He was employed at Kenwal Steel. Brett was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Brett is survived by his mother, Marianne Jackman; children: Austin Meyer, Dylan Alcocer, and Kalyn, Gage, Paige, and Isaiah Nickels; brothers: Joseph R. Jackman and James E. Nickels III; step siblings: Jennifer Harris, Julie Ouimet, Scott Jackman, Brian Jackman, Theol R. Jackman III, and their families; former wife, Rose Meyer; special friend, April Brown; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Theol R. Jackman and father, James E. Nickels, Jr. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Valparaiso with visiting beginning at 1:30 PM.
