Carole Heuring Obituary

Carole Ann Heuring (nee Stolp)

VALPARAISO, IN -

Carole Ann Heuring (nee Stolp), age 85 of Valparaiso, formerly of Hobart, went to heaven peacefully the morning of January 28, 2021.

Mrs. Heuring was incredibly blessed and incredibly loved. She met her husband, H. P. "hal" Heuring of 43 years in grammar school at the pencil sharpener when they were just 14 years old. He was the love of her life and she still had a twinkle in her eye when his name was mentioned the day before she left us. They married in 1958 at St. Bridget Church in Hobart, IN and had four children in four years: Scott Paul Heuring (Mindy Heuring), Brenda Ann (Jim) Howard, Craig Paul (Paula) Heuring and Paulette Ann (Jim) Marino. Carole was a registered nurse and earned her nursing degree at Rosland Community Hospital in 1958. She worked primarily as a surgical or ER nurse. She was Mrs. Heuring, Mrs. H. Lorac (Carol backwards) and Mamacita to every kid known to the family. She loved having everyone in the pool all summer and she was often the first call whenever any kid in the neighborhood got sick or wiped out on their bike. (Everyone knew she kept tetanus shots in the refrigerator). She always made everyone, young and old, feel welcome. When her children left for college, Carole tried her hand at golf and was pretty darn good. She played several times a week with her buddies in the Valparaiso Country Club 18-hold league, and she made many lifelong friends in Ft. Myers, FL on the Olde Hickory golf course where she and hal spent many winters. Carole and hal built their life in Hobart until 1986 when they moved to Valparaiso. She was a member of the Hobart Jaycees, Phi Beta Psi Sorority and she also volunteered as a "pink lady" at St. Mary Medical Center and was a life member of the auxiliary.

She was "Mocha" to eleven grandchildren: Spencer Paul Heuring, Clare (Alex) Dyba and Will Paul Heuring; Matt Howard and Andrew Howard; Danielle (Brian) Dziedzinski and Samuel Paul Heuring; Grace Marino, Michael Marino, Joseph Paul Marino and Vincent Paul Marino. She especially loved being "GG" to her only great grandchild, Jake Dziedzinski. Six nieces and nephews were adored by Aunt Carole and she was blessed with brothers and sisters in law: Winnie and Bill Heuring and Sue and Dave Heuring. Her mother named her Carole because she was born so close to Christmas. Her parents, Clara and John Dixon and brother, Bill Stolp preceded her in death. Carole was a huge Cubs fan, fed every bird in Porter County, loved the color blue, made the best English toffee and always wore Estee Lauder Beautiful perfume. She will be dearly missed by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso. Entombment at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. I have known Carol most of my life. She went to school with my father, was in Phi Beta Psi with my mother and later with myself. I have worked at St. Mary's in Hobart for 45 years and worked with Carol. Later when she was a patient, I would visit her when she would come in. She will be greatly missed.

What a gift your mom has been to us and our family. From the first day she moved next door to us she was family. We were so very blessed to have her in our lives. She shared her love of her family with us often. A kinder, gentler, caring soul we have never met. She meant so very much to us and will be dearly missed. In time we will sit and look over at her window and fondly remember all the love we shared between us.

My sympathy to the family. She will be missed. We worked together at the Gary Mercy hospital in the 50's and later at the Hobart St. Mary Medical Hospital. I knew her family, mother and grandmother. So sorry I cannot attend the services.

To all of Carole’s wonderful Family,
I am Carol and Chuck Coburn’s daughter and I am so thankful I got spend time with your Mom when I was in visiting my parents over thanksgiving. I loved to talk with her and she loved to share her home with everyone. She was so happy this past Christmas to have her smaller tree up and was so glad I stopped by. I am sorry for your loss, but know she is with your Dad now, and you will see her again. I will miss your Mom she was a beautiful person inside and out.
Prayers to you all,

Dear Paulette, Jim, Grace, Michael, Joey, and Vincent,
We are saddened to hear about the loss of your mom and grandmother. We know you spent much time visiting with her, and may those memories lift you up as you mourn her loss. We have fond memories of your grandparents from our ND days; they were the consummate hosts, and always so much fun! Sending love and hugs to all.
