Claus Kruse Obituary
Claus Albert Kruse, 74, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Porter Hospital. He was born February 13, 1936 in Weimer, TX the son of Claus Detlef and Erna (Brandes) Kruse, graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1954 then received a B. S. in Engineering from Valparaiso University in 1958. From 1959-1961, Claus served with the U.S. Army at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico where he was cited by his commanding officer for his exemplary engineering work, attention to detail and conscientious attitude. Claus then worked at McGill's Manufacturing Bearing Division (Emerson) in Valparaiso for over 36 years as an Engineer and Manager retiring in 1993. He was a member of Heritage Lutheran Church in Valparaiso. Survivors include his sisters: Betty (Bruce) Crittenden of Reminderville, OH and Arlene (Bob) Zimbelman of Georgetown, TX; nieces: Cathy (Steve) Miller of Loveland, OH, Marcia (Shawn) Spera of Solon, OH and Jill (Ken) Drensky of Massillon, OH; nephew, Scott (Heather) Boling of Paw Paw, MI; and 10 great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso with Rev. Joseph Ostafinski officiating. Burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Heritage Lutheran Church. Enjoyed many trips out West camping with Claus. If I ever needed help with anything Claus would volunteer even when the the help involved roofing a building on a 95 degree day. I miss the old days.I miss a good friend.

Claus was a very good friend. When I built a work shop and needed help shingling the roof in 90 degree plus weather he volunteered to come out and help. We made many trips out West camping over the years, I think of Claus often and miss having his friendship. He was a good person.
