Cory came to my mind recently and decided to do a Google search to find him. I was saddened to find he had passed many years ago. He was a fraternity brother of mine at ISU and the life of the party especially when he got on the dance floor at many functions. I remember him being very protective of us new pledges and I respected him so much. He was one of a kind and a great human. Although I had not seen you since those college days I miss you my friend.

I Recently found out that my friend whom gave me my greatest memories from high school thru college at iSU, and my wedding has gone. I had no idea until recently getting on face book and in searching for him found out thru a mutual friend about his passing. LU and Sherry I am so sorry i could not have been there and will now miss him forever as i always thought our paths would cross again someday as life with children slowed down. One of the most genuine greatest friends a guy could have. I will miss him forever.
Sincerely,
Mark and Lavada Demko.

Well Cory, it has been a year now since you left us and yet it seems like you are still here in so many ways. We are remodeling the kitchen of our new home and I can't help but to think no matter how good a job I think we are doing, that you could have made it better!
We love and miss you so much, yet we know you are in a much better place which deserves such a person as yourself. I hope you are sitting with Aunt Barb right now laughing together when you can't laugh at the rest of the goofs in our family.
I know we will see each other again!
Always know that we all love and miss you sooooooo much!!!!

I will always think of Cory and his laugh. That's how I will remember him. I all these years later think of him EVERY TIME I hear "Love Shack" by the B52's and I was such a sucker for the old (you've got something on your) shirt trick.
"You're soooo easy !" he'd always tell me. Then a couple weeks later he'd catch me on it again. He LOVED that ~ and who could get mad at him?! He loved to have FUN !
Love to Sherry and Lu and all of you who loved Cory...

I have been on this page all month. I have just sat here knowing what I wanted to write,
and yet unable to put it into words. Yesterday was the Lemon Family Christmas Party.
We were all gathered together as always. We were all smiling and trying to bring joy
to one another. I looked into the eyes of your Dad, Jill, Troy, Sherry, Sherri, Mason,
Trish, Mike, Hannah, Rachael and our beautiful Mickey. YOU WERE THERE CORY!
You were in the hearts of all who loved you the most. You will always be with us. You
were just too special for this world of ours. You will be forever young, forever special,
forever loved and forever missed. You are in very good company! Grandma and Grandpa Lemon,
Grandma and Grandpa Ortis, Aunt Carol, Chloe, cousins Linda and Bobby. This makes
me smile! And yes Sherry...Cory knows how much you love and miss him. All life's questions,
mysteries and answers are like an open book to Cory now.
Love you Corky,
Aunt Kathy

Cory,

I miss you just as much today. I'm still waiting for this to get easier, but my heart is still broken. Please know how much I love you.

I have just been made aware of Cory's passing today. My most heartfelt prayers are with Cory's family. His presence was and is forever felt. The smiles and stories that we shared at Indiana State University will never be forgotten. Even now, I talk to my son about the guy with the Izod tatoo and just how it got there! May everyone you have touched find peace and share the love you have given to us all. Cory, I will miss you my Fraternal brother, Pledge brother, and dear friend.

I had the pleasure of meeting Cory last march. Over the last year we became pretty good friends. I was always happy to see his smiling happy face 5 days a week, when he'd stopped in to get his coffee. He touched my life and will always hold a special place in my heart. My heart goes out to each and everyone who was blessed to have him in their life.

I just read about Cory's passing moments ago. Cory was a roommate of mine in college, and I have so many positive memories that involve him. He is the type of person that leaves an imprint on everyone he meets. It is not possible for me to think of my college years without thinking of Cory.

As a housemate of Cory's at Indiana State, I always witnessed how truly special a person he was and how much he meant to everyone who knew him. I'll never forget how he taught me the "evils" of rap music, how to create without boundaries, and a different perspective on almost every subject we ever discussed. He was simply the most unique individual I have ever known. I can't wait to see him again some day in our next life and thank him for how he helped me through my youthful adult years. God Bless!!!

Cory, I can't believe you are gone from this world but I am sure that you are looking down at us and looking forward to the day that we will all be together again. I hope Grams and Gramps have a mansion up there that we can all meet at together for some of Grams great cooking and some of gramps guitar playing! Aunt Carol and my dad singing about a teddy bear and sombody's momma getting run over by a train! I loved what was said about you at the memorial. And I am looking forward to seeing the next rainbow in the sky and imagine that God had you paint it for all of us. I love you and I will miss you my little bratty cousin! Donna

Cory always had a smile & made you feel like he was so happy to see you. The last time I saw him I ran into him at the animal clinic. Friend Debra remembers his cucumber salad from a river party some years back! Cory gave us a lemon ornament which is all the more special to us now. We talked plants, he stopped by & we swapped some plants. We now have several beautiful living 'tributes'. Cory's Rose of Sharon, Cory's flowers. He was a unique personality & we will miss him. Love to you all!

Forever young…forever loved…forever remembered!
Our Cory was so special and unique in so many ways.
His love of art and the vision he had was far beyond the
norm. How blessed we were to have him in our lives.
His Grandparents called him “Corky”. His cousin Deb
Called him “Cork-a-doodle”. He was the most beautiful
Child! Big curious eyes and lots of curls on his head. I
Remember our Mom always touching his curly locks.
He was and is so loved! He is in Heaven with his
Grandma and Grandpa Lemon, his Aunt Carol and cousin
Chloe. May God take away the tears and replace them
with smiles in remembering our sweet Cory
I will always love and miss you Cory,
Aunt Kathy

My thoughts and my prayers are with the entire family of Cory. Sometimes we all get lost in our everyday lifes that we tend not to stop, yet for just a moment, and relish the love and the importance of family, friends and life itself. I have had the great opportunity to have grown up with this awesome fun loving family and to this present day still maintain that connection. Cory you will be missed dearly.

The news of Corey’s passing seems so unreal and unfair. There could be no words to describe the pain his family is experiencing. Such a friendly, energetic, enlightening person he was. I did my first two person show with Cory years ago in Hot Springs, Ark. We had a ball. After that we could never end conversations with less than three or four good byes apiece. He was such a comfortable person to be around. He was one of the few people I have met that truly knew how to live.

Dear Family of Corey Lemon,
I met Corey at ISU when I was a fresh out of high school 18 year old. He was an upperclassman and I could see that there were very strong friendships in the art annex. This group of students was very advanced in thier artistic development but I remember Corey always making time for some feedback for the younger rookie students like myself. He treated me with an incredible amount of respect. I later developed some of the same friendships that I saw modeled to me. Anyone who has spent time in the art annex knows the energy, friendships, support, and love that is shared there. I now teach and help students in the same way that Corey helped me- just treating people with respect and offering artistic advice whenever I can. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Chuck Lemon

(An e-mail sent to Cory's friend Patrick Titzer)....
I was stunned and saddened to hear of Corey's passing. I had the
pleasure of attending school with Corey and his enthusiasm, work ethic and
love of art was an absolute inspiration to all around him. I felt I was a
better artist for having worked beside him. It greatly saddens me to hear of
his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I know
you and he were good friends. Please let Gemma and I know if we can do
anything for you and Karen.

Gemma and I plan on making a donation to the local humane shelter as
requested.

I had the priviledge of growing close to Cory during my wonderful days at ISU. We had many wonderful moments and great conversations. We laughed a lot and helped each other through some tears too. He was always one of those people who could make me think outside the box and laugh at the small stuff that seemed so big at the time! His talent amazed me and I feel so blessed to have known him. He was someone I always knew in my heart I would see again someday, and it makes me sad that I never got the chance. He touched my heart and my life will always be richer for having gotten to know him and spend time with him. I will remember those days fondly. My truest and deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family.
Thank you for making him who he was...simply wonderful!

I had the delightful experience of knowing Cory while I was getting my degree at ISU. Cory was always a breath of sunshine, a big smile approaching with sparkling eyes. I can still picture him walking thru the double doors of woods into the ceramics room. I remember him always being so upbeat and encouraging. When I was planning the ISU retirement party, he was one of the first to offer assistance and he materialized it to the fullest. It was great to be back in contact with him. I thought his show at the Titzer gallery was magnificent. I loved his pastel drawings with their vibrant bright colors; to me, it reflected the very outgoing, loving personality that he possessed. It was a real privilege to know him and count him as a friend. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. May the wonderful loving memories of him sustain you.

I just wanted to send my deepest sympathies to Lu and her entire family, they all are so giving. My favorite memory of Cory is when he and I realized that my favorite minister was now at the Hanna Christian Church. Mr. Merlin Bray was at his pulpip when we arrived at the morning service with grins from ear to ear. I hadn't seen him since I was a kid, so seeing him was a blessing in itself, and having him walk up to Cory and say, "boy they will let anyone into Hanna now adays..." then he gave us both a bear hug. Unbelievable moment of true spirit of Christ and his angels. He will be truly missed, but just think of the art he's painting right now in heaven for all of us to admire.

Much love

Cory,
I still can't believe you are not with us, we love and miss you so much! Any person who is blessed to have any of your art will always have a piece of you with them.

The one thing I remember most is how you would get the kids all wound up on holidays and then one of the parents would tell them to stop and you would just laugh and pretend you had nothing to do with it, It was liked you looked forward to the holiday gatherings just to see the kids. You will be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts and thoughts.

Thank You Cory for being YOU!

I don't know any Cory Lemon stories that don't include healthy amounts of laughter. I want to be just like you when I grow up, and I'm already 41...
It doesn't matter how much time ever passed, our conversations were ongoing and eternal, and I'll just have to hold up both sides of the discussion now, Cory.
Which means now I can say whatever I want, and you have to agree. You're chuckling right now, aren't you? Serenity Now, serenity now!

Cory gave me laughter and curiosity about life, art and myself. We attended art school together, and in his even-handed way, challenged me to push beyond my comfort zone with my art, which allowed me to grow more confident as a person as well as an artist.

When ISU alumni werre planning a farewell party honoring the3-D art professors, Cory and I resumed regular communication, when I saw his address in a batch email.

He learned that I am ill, and so he called me twice weekly to check on me. He did so for almost two years, up until about two months ago. My most recent voice-mail, about two weeks ago, I told him, "I love you."

Cory brought great joy into my life, and I will miss him deeply.

My heartfelt condolences to the Lemon family.
