David Caird Obituary

DAVID E. "DAVE" CAIRD MONTICELLO, IN David E. "Dave" Caird, age 73 of Monticello and formerly of Valparaiso passed away September 4, 2013. He was born on January 11, 1940 in Hammond the son of David J. and Stella L. (Marciniak) Caird. Dave was a 1958 graduate of Griffith High School and had worked at C&C Iron in Merrillville retiring after many years of service. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 81 of Monticello, and a sponsoring member of the U.S.O. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating, and trains. Dave is survived by his children: Denise (Scott) Miller of Valparaiso and Andrew "Andy" Caird of Dyer; grandchildren: Ryan, Alex, and Tyler Caird all of Dyer and Steven Miller of Valparaiso; and sisters: JoAnn (John) Swift of Monticello, JeanAnne Green of Highland, and Janet (Jim) Smith of Glendale, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Christine Caird. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 11th at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso from 4:00-7:00 PM. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society. www.moellerfuneralhome.com
