DAVID MARINE Obituary

DAVID D. MARINE CEDAR LAKE, IN
On July 16, 2011, I lost my best friend, my lover, my husband, after a courageous battle with Leukemia at the age of 63. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife, Doris; his children: Patty Hardesty, Rob (Nancy) Hardesty, Shari (Bert) Kralek, Debbie (Doug) Kralek and Crissy (Joe) Alliss; his grandchildren: Johnathon (Tasha) Hardesty, Jame Jared III, Josh Jared, Brittany Hardesty, Felicia Kralek, Tiffany Kralek, Cheyenne Kralek, Ryan Alliss, and Cameron Alliss; great grandchildren: Hannah Hardesty and Jayce Hardesty; his siblings: Bob (Ruby) Marine, Sandy Marine and Mike (Beth) Marine; many loving nieces and nephews; other family members; and his beloved cat, Little Bit aka Mr. Handsome. Preceded in death by his parents: David and Eula Marine; his grandson, DJ Kralek; and his in-laws: Sid and Fay Hatfield. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of Rt. 41 and 129th Ave.) Cedar Lake. Davey loved being a truck driver from Scrap Haulers, Mid-America, Mae Corp and finally finding a home at Beemsterboer, where he retired a Teamster Local 142 after 23 years. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Navy, eight years in Vietnam and was a member of Cedar Lake Eagles Aeries #2529. Also a member of American Legion Post #261. If love could have saved him he never would have died because he was loved by so many people. The family wishes to thank Dr. Barai, Dr. Kurra, Southlake Methodist Hospital, his wonderful and caring nurses in 4W3, and the University of Chicago. They will always be in our thoughts. Dave was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. Per Dave’s wishes please dress casual because he was not a dress up kind of guy (Jeans and Tshirts). In lieu of flowers, donations to his wife would be greatly appreciated. www.burdanfuneralhome.com

Dad, coming up on 13 years without you.I miss you like it was yesterday . No more family dinners, family time, there are great grandkids you didn´t get to meet. But you have Mom and she missed you so much. Love and miss you both so incredibly much.

Dear Doris, Deb, Doug & Family,

May your memories and love ease your grief in the loss of Dave. He was a very special person who will be missed by many. I always say that my life is blessed and the fact that you are my neighbors and friends is positively proof of that. I wish I had the power to make everything better for all of you but all I have is love and sympathy. Time will heal and memories will comfort you in the days to come. Just know that you are not alone in your sorrow. Dave touched so many lives simply by being who he was and right now there are many heavy hearts to keep yours company. I already miss my good neighbor and the only man I could follow on a dance floor.

Love and Big Hugs to All,
tosh

Doris and family (I won't list everyone so I don't run out of room)
I feel like a kindred spirit writing this.
When I first met Dave & Doris, Dave treated my like a long lost friend(which since we knew a lot of the same people we were (Dave tell Bill Mick and Dave Lafrenz I said hi)). Doris you welcomed me as a friend and then most of the time (haha) let me believe that i was part of your family.
All of us in your family and in many others lost a very good friend on Saturday but one of these days we will all be together again SOMEDAY (hey weren't we all in a band named someday)
Doris if you need anything just let us know

Doris, Sandy, Bob,Mike, Our deepest sympathies to all of you and your families. We knew Dave for about 23 yrs and to us he was a hell of a guy. Funny, kind hearted and giving of himself when he could. I worked with him for a better part of the 23 yrs, he was one of the best drivers I knew at "the Beem". He would stop by the bar with the wife and I and have a few or maybe stop by the house and slam a few for free. All in all he was one hell of a guy, he was always quick with a joke to make you feel better no matter what. We will miss him greatly. Steve and Val Pustek (Hammond)
