David Saker Obituary

David LeRoy Saker born June 3, 1936, in Hammond, Indiana, was called home on January 1, 2026, in Paris, Missouri, at the age of 89 years old. He departed this world peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, love and service. Beloved husband of Carolyn Saker for almost 64 years; loving sister, Nancy Regier, of Las Vegas, NV; devoted father of Brian (Gabrielle) Saker, Lynnette (James) Cotton, and Leanne (Ronald) Kannewurf; loving grandfather of Nathaniel Cotton, Hannah Cotton, Logan Saker, and Kaelen Saker.

He was preceded in death by his father Roy E. Saker, Jr. and mother Florence (Smith) Saker; and a brother Paul Timothy Saker.

David graduated from Griffith High School class of 1954, excelling in cross country and basketball. He then proudly served in the United States Navy including service on the Bon Homme Richard. After the service, David joined Inland Steel, where he retired after over thirty years.

David was an avid fisherman enjoying regular fishing trips on Lake Michigan but his true passion was ice fishing on smaller bodies of water in Indiana. He also was able to travel to Canada for yearly fishing trips.

A private family graveside service, with full military honors, will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 1 p.m. in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, MO, with Mark Carter officiating.

Memorials may be made in David's name to the Disabled American Veterans.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, MO.
