Diane Miller Obituary
Diane Rae (Wieland) Miller, age 71, passed away on June 2, 2014 at Avalon Springs Health Center. Diane grew up in Hammond, IN and graduated from Morton High School in 1961. She attended Indiana University for two years, where she was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota Honorary Music Sorority. She graduated from Valparaiso University with both a Bachelors and Masters in Music Education. Diane married Ernest Hale Miller in 1963, and they settled in Valparaiso. She and Ernie became charter members of Christ Lutheran Church in Valparaiso. She was employed by Hobart Township Schools and Citizens Financial Services. Diane is survived by her mother, Doris Wieland of Munster, IN; daughter, Alyson (Paul) Dietsche of Plano, TX; grandsons: Miller Christian Dietsche and Austin Hale Dietsche, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Miller; and her father, William Raymond Wieland. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 2610 N. Campbell Valparaiso with burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd. Valparaiso and Friday at church one prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Christ Lutheran Church in Valparaiso or Hammond, Alzheimer's Association, or American Heart Association. moellerfuneralhome.com

Dear Alyson: although I did not know your wonderful mother, I am quite familiar with the Miller family and am a long time friend of Richard Miller. From my reading I can see that your mother was a very special and loving person. Your heritage is great and your mom and dad I know are so very proud of you.
