Donna Krawczyk Obituary

Donna Lynn Krawczyk

Jul 10, 1950 - Jan 6, 2025

Donna Lynn Krawczyk, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, and lived in Valparaiso, Indiana, until moving to Virginia in 2016. Her life was a testament to resilience, love, and service to others.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Michael Krawczyk; daughter, Kimberly (Joseph); son, James (Susan); and her four grandchildren, Benjamin, Reagan, Emma, and Camden. Donna's love for her grandchildren was boundless; they were her whole world. She adored them and cherished every moment spent with them. She also had a special place in her heart for her brother, Dennis (Jennifer) McGuirl, and all her nieces and nephews.

Donna's resilience was a testament to her character. After 20 years as a telephone operator and supervisor, she retired from GTE and then returned to work as a manager and bookkeeper for Sandbergs Towing. Her move to Virginia in 2016 was a retirement to be closer to her children. She was known for her green thumb, love for cooking, and reading thousands of books. Her life was a story of triumph, having beaten cancer on three separate occasions and providing much-needed support to friends during their battles with cancer.

Donna took immense pride in her children, who have dedicated over 20 years to public service. She celebrated their professional accomplishments and the positive impact they make through their work, always expressing deep admiration for their dedication and achievements. Her unwavering support and encouragement were instrumental in shaping their careers. She spoiled and lived for seeing her grandkid's sporting events and cheering them all on from the stands or sidelines.

Donna was a steadfast advocate and supporter of veterans, including her husband. She was invaluable in assisting her husband and his fellow veterans with reunions, fostering bonds of camaraderie and remembrance. Donna was also a pillar of support for veterans' spouses, offering understanding, encouragement, and friendship to those navigating the unique challenges of military life.

In keeping with Donna's selfless spirit, she donated her corneas to give the gift of sight, bringing hope and light to others even in her passing.

While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in the knowledge that Donna's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Once the arrangements are finalized, family and friends will be notified.

My heartfelt sympathy to Mike and the Krawczyk family on the loss of Donna. We were neighbors and friends in Valparaiso for a couple years in the early 70s and I remember her well despite the passage of more than 40 years.
