Donna Lyczak Obituary

DONNA J. LYCZAK-NOLL DYER, IN Donna J. Lyczak, age 57, of Dyer, IN was born in Chicago on St. Valentine's Day, 1952 and passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009. She is survived by her loving husband, Lester L. Noll; father, Edmund (Adele) Lyczak; sisters: Carol (Dick) Alexander and Nancy (Ed) Keen; aunts: Jan Galati and Evelyn Swider; cousins, extended family, many friends; and her spiritual "sister," Diane. She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Lyczak Vann. Donna held a variety of jobs during her life but her profession was that of teacher. Upon graduation from SIU Carbondale, she accepted a teaching assignment in Perth, Western Australia. There, as everywhere, she made good, lifelong friends. She loved to travel and from there she took short jaunts to Singapore, Bangkok and other exotic destinations. After her teaching contract ended, she returned to the Chicago, traveling with two girlfriends via Tibet, India, Istanbul, Austria, Italy, France and points in between. Donna enjoyed gardening and decorating and was very proud of the home she created for her husband and herself. She restarted Lyczak family reunions and gathered genealogy information on the family back to the original immigrants, attempting even to discover the family's roots in Poland. She was a devout Catholic and dearly loved attending mass at the St. Margaret Mercy Hospital Chapel. Donna's wish was to have her remains cremated. To accommodate both her family in Illinois and her friends in Indiana, a wake will be held at Sax Tiedemann Funeral Home, 9568 Belmont Ave, Franklin Park, IL, on Friday, June 12, 2009 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 440 Joliet Rd, Dyer, IN, on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 9:00 AM, Fr. Terry Stephens officiating. Friends and family may visit before mass at St. Joseph Church at 8:00 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her paternal grandmother in St. Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL, on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 12:30 PM. Flowers will be appreciated but donations may be made in Donna's name to any of the following charities: Hospice of the Calumet, Riley Hospice House, Munster, IN; Catholic Mission Office, Chicago Archdiocese; St. Joseph Church, Dyer, IN; Fr. Rookey ICM, Olympia Fields, Illinois. www.sax-tiedemann.com
