Munster, IN - Edna Friedrich Brant, 95 of Munster, IN, passed away peacefully at her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She is survived by her children, Cathryn (Thomas) Tullidge, Jeffrey (Victoria) Brant and James (Alecia) Brant; grandchildren, Sara Gray (Philip) Innes, Cathryn Elizabeth Tullidge, William Brant (Amanda) Tullidge, Nicholas Friedrich (Alejandra) Brant, and Taylor (Andrew) Brant-Chen; several nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, William Brant Jr; parents, Edwin and Anna Friedrich; sisters, Lois (late Bob) Dietmeier and Margaret (late Carl) Peters; and sisters-in-law, Betty (late Chuck) Fisher and Helen (late Chuck) Blaisdale
Born in Hammond, IN on November 1, 1929, to Edwin and Anna (Ahlborn) Friedrich. Edna graduated from Hammond High School in 1947. It is there she met the love of her life William Brant. Edna graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors in Education. She was a member of the "Kappa Alpha Theta" Sorority.
After William graduated from Purdue, he enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed in Hawaii. Together William and Edna moved to Hawaii. They married a year after they graduated college. Edna taught school in Hawaii as a newlywed. When they returned, Edna taught school at Elliot until she started her own family. She was an influential force behind her husband as they founded Brant Construction in 1955.
Edna loved to travel, entertain and enjoy her beautiful garden. She loved hosting her annual Christmas cocktail parties with all her friends, most of whom she grew up with from Forrest Avenue in Hammond. Edna enjoyed spending her winters at their home in Florida.
Edna was a member of the service league of Hammond, Woodmar Country Club which her father, Edwin Friedrich, was a founding member and Briar Ridge Country Club.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church 8955 Columbia Ave, Munster, IN for William and Edna Brant on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
