EDWARD S. ZEBRACKI "E Z ED" WHITING, IN
Edward S. Zebracki, 83 of Whiting, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Theresa (nee Bonchik); loving father of Susan (Bernie) Horvath of St. John, Kimberly (Timothy) Praski of Schererville and Carol (Brad) Stelow of Whiting; cherished grandfather of Kelly Horvath, Austin Praski, Trenton Praski and Cole Stelow; dearest brother-in-law of Bob (Betty) Bonchik of Whiting; dear uncle of many nieces and nephews; special caregiver, Ann Shelton. He was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012; 9:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at St. Adalbert Church, Whiting with the Rev. Stanley J. Dominik officiating. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Visitation at the funeral home Thursday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Ed Zebracki was born on December 25, 1928 in Hammond, Indiana to Frank and Mary (Popek) Zebracki and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a member of St. Adalbert Church, Whiting, a graduate of Hammond Technical High School, Class of 1948 and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Ed was a member of the American Legion, Whiting Post 80 (who will conduct memorial services at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.) and a member of the American Slovak Club, Whiting. He was a retiree of the Inland Steel Co., East Chicago, with a service of 39 years, and was a member of the USW Local 1010 and the Inland Steel 25 Year Club. Ed was devoted to his family and was a member of the "Best Fathers Club". He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
