Flora Gaeto Obituary
Flora D. Gaeto (nee Mele), age 89, Valparaiso, IN (formerly of Gary’s Ranburn Woods neighborhood) passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 after a short illness. Flora was born on March 20, 1924 to Matthew and Theresa Mele in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Gary Froebel High School in 1942. In 1947, she married William R. Gaeto, who preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Diva Bianchi and Gloria Mele. Flora is survived by two children: Cynthia (Tim) Wardrip of Valparaiso and Gary (late Gail) Gaeto of Hopkinsville, KY; grandchildren: Nicholas (Laci) Wardrip, Kaylyn Wardrip, and Brian Wardrip; great grandchildren: Graham Wardrip and Hailie Wardrip; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Flora retired from Root Photographers in Chicago after working for many years in the studio photography industry. She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Gary. Flora brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She enjoyed playing the piano and never forgot anyone’s birthday. She was a very special lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends are invited to visit with Flora’s family on Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY St. Joan of Arc Church, 200 E. 78th Ave., Merrillville, IN. Entombment following at Calumet Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. www.burnsfuneral.com

My deepest sympathy to Flora's children and their family and friends. I hadn't seen Flora in a very long time, but I always remember her as a sweet lady who liked to laugh. I hope that the memories that you shared with her, will bring you comfort in the days ahead. May she rest in peace.

May she rest in peace. I remember her from working with my mother at Root Photographer. She was also a very talented artist. We still have the beautiful portrait she did of my father.
