GEORGE GLAGOLA PORTAGE, IN
George Glagola, age 79 of Portage, formerly of Merrillville, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra Glagola (nee Rilea); four children: George Glagola of Portage, Elizabeth Glagola of Crown Point, Becky (Mike) Bilyak and Joanna Glagola, both of Portage; five grandchildren: Jonathan (Gabrielle) Reinhard, Cheyenne Glagola, Christina, Andrew and Rachel Bilyak; two brothers: Mike (Suzie) Glagola of MI and Peter Glagola of CA; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents: John and Bertha; brothers: John, Andrew and Steve Glagola; sisters: Mary Durgin and Anne Wentovich. George was a member of Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church. He was a retired supervisor from U.S. Steel with 26 years of service. George was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he played football for the Pittsburgh Panthers. He was a Navy Lieutenant having served as a pilot during the Korean War. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville Monday, December 13, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 DIRECTLY at Protection of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 8600 Grand Blvd., Merrillville, at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Peter Bodnar officiating. Visitation prior to service from 10:00 to 12:00 at the church. At rest St. Mary Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Gary.
