Grace Baxter Obituary

Grace T. Baxter (nee Mickiewicz) Hammond, IN Grace T. Baxter, age 78, of Hammond, IN, formerly of Detroit MI, passed away December 6, 2006 at the Tri-State Manor Nursing Home in Lansing, IL. She is survived by her five children: Christine (Chet) Czarnota of Bonita Springs, FL, Thomas Baxter of Traverse City, MI, Cynthia (Kyle) Hannon of Altanta GA, Carolyn (Jeff) Zajac of Cleveland, TN and Connie Baxter (Bill Kopp) of Hammond, IN; one sister Florence Munoz of Detroit MI, six grandchildren: Sharon Bosley, Kelly Hannon, Austin Hannon, Hayden Piffer, Brandon Zajac and Katlin Piffer and one great-grandchild Silas Bosley; many nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Susan Mickiewicz and brothers and sisters. Grace for many years was a caregiver for Developmentally Disabled Adults and various organizations throughout the region, she was a member of the St. Joseph Church in Hammond. Grace had a very active and social life for many years. She was a diva of the Red Hats Society Divas of the region and a former member of the New Horizons Singles Club. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be conducted at a later date. In lieu flowers donations may be made in Graces name to the Tri-State Nursing Home, 2500 175th St.,Lansing, IL the Ingalls Hospice Center in Harvey, Illinois or the Heartland Center, 6819 Indianapolis Blvd., Hammond, IN 46324. Gracie truely was amazing and will be greatly missed.
